We are here in Jaco Costa Rica!! And my goodness are we spoiled for the first month and a half of our race! We are with an amazing ministry called Oceans Edge. We are staying at their base and it is very nice. I forgot to grab photos on the way to coming to the local hotel lobby for WiFi so I will have to drop those photos in the next blog or two. We all got beds and showers and kitchens and everything. It is incredible!! We also are located about 15 minutes away from the beach walking and 10 minutes from a pretty sweet downtown. Low key reminds me of Tempe Arizona in a Central American format.

This week we have technically been quarantining so we have not been interacting with the church yet. We have done a lot of work around the house, however. Our schedule looks something like this:

  • 7-8: Quiet Time/ Waking Up
  • 8-8:40: Breakfast (Typically just some cereal for me)
  • 8:40-9: Stretching
  • 9-10: Devotional with an elder from the church, Richard. Who will also be our guy mentor we meet with on Wednesdays
  • 10-12: Ministry
  • 12-1: Lunch (typically a sandwich)
  • 1-4ish: Ministry
  • 4-7: Free time (Typically the beach or time to get stuff done like shopping, laundry, more quiet time, etc. although this will probably be pushed back to 5 when we are doing ministry away from our place.
  • 7-8: Start heading back from wherever with our curfew being at 8. Also start making food during this time if you are up for making food.
  • 8-9: Dinner
  • 9-10: Team time (Time to talk about how we are doing and encourage each other
  • 10-11: finish team time/ hang out/ worship
  • 11: Quiet Time

That’s our schedule from Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday we will go to church and engage there and help with childcare. Then the rest of Sunday and all of Monday we are free.

I am already getting pushed for sure whether that is with our busy schedule, always being around people, getting asked very good questions to reflect on, or being placed in moments of vulnerability with the team.

I just wanted to give a brief run through of what life in Jaco is looking like. Excited to fill in a lot more information soon!

Jesus loves you greatly!

Much Love!
